Magic in the Darkroom
If you've always wanted to learn how to print black and white photographs and explore your creativity in the photographic medium, then this course is an excellent introduction.
There's something magical about watching a photograph you've made come to life in the developing tray, and then adjusting and refining your printing until a beautiful print is produced.
No prior knowledge is necessary. The workshop will combine classroom instruction with hands-on time in the darkroom. You will also learn how to shoot black and white film in your own camera, then process and print it in the darkroom.
All materials are provided, including black and white film, printing paper,and developing chemistry as well as printed notes and guides.

Art from the Darkroom
This course is designed for photographers and photo-based artists who want to explore their creativity and the expressive potential of personally printed work. A basic understanding of darkroom processes is required, but a high level of expertise is not necessary.
Doug will show you how to get the most out of existing photos you have already made, and how to make expressive prints from new work. The main focus will be on black and white processes, but there will also be an opportunity to learn the fundamentals of color printing.
The darkroom equipment will accommodate film sizes up to 4x5 inches, and participants can print up to 16 x 20 inches if they wish. Since the course will focus on each participant's interests, only a minimum fee will be charged for film, printing paper, and chemistry. Participants are free to supply additional materials, or they may purchase them from the instructor at cost.

Color in the Darkroom -- Ilfochrome Printing
If you have always wanted to learn how to print color, then you will want to take advantage of this course. Contrary to popular perception, color printing is no more complicated than black and white processes, but it does require some specialized equipment.Here's your opportunity to work in a spacious well-equipped darkroom and learn how to print in one of the finest color processes available --Ilfochrome.All the printing paper and developing chemistry will be supplied to make 10-8x 10 inch prints. Additional materials can be purchased from the instructor at cost.
Participants are expected to bring their own color transparencies for printing.
