Creating a Photographic Portfolio:
                      A workshop for Visual Artists and Craftspeople

All artists need good photographs of their work for :

          - Submissions to public and commercial galleries
          - A documented record of their  works
          - Support for marketing works at fairs, craft shows, and                                               exhibitions

This workshop series will give artists and people some of the skills they will need to create an effective and appealing photographic portfolio of their work.

Participants will learn how to photograph samples of their own work using natural and artificial lighting and how to use backdrops and other techniques to create appealing photographs.

Workshop Presenter:     Doug Jones

          Doug has been a professional photographer for a number of years and has experience in photographing art and craft works.

Workshop Format:    2 sessions  -- 10 am - 2pm on Saturdays, usually 2 or                                                                                               3 weeks apart

          Session 1

          Introduction to films and lighting
          Camera controls -- exposure, lenses
          Backdrops, settings
          Photographing sample works brought by participants

          Session 2

          Evaluation of photographs
          Creating a portfolio - photographic presentation,  album formats
          Writing a biography and resume to accompany your
                    portfolio

Cost:   $75   --   includes film, processing, and presentation materials

          Participants should bring to the sessions:
                    35mm single lens reflex camera (Session 1)
                    3 samples of their artwork to be photographed (Session 1)
                    a light snack -- coffee and tea will be served
